At Magic Beans, we know that our expecting parents have a lot to consider when it comes to their baby gear purchases. With so many great products available, the process of narrowing down your options to the right choice for your family can be tedious, and at times downright overwhelming! That’s where Magic Beans comes in to help. Today, we’re going to take a look at the newest stroller releases from UPPAbaby, a fan-favorite brand that recently announced two new strollers, the UPPAbaby Vista V2 2020 and the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 2020.

UPPABABY VISTA V2 2020 VS. UPPABABY CRUZ V2 2020: SEATING SIMILARITIES

UPPAbaby Vista V2 2020

When it comes to baby gear, UPPAbaby is best known for their full-size primary strolling options: namely, the Vista and the Cruz. In 2020, UPPAbaby will release some pretty amazing updates to these primary members of their fleet, welcoming the Vista V2 and Cruz V2 to the family! The updates seen in the Vista V2 and the Cruz V2 are mostly convenience-centered, and are shared by both models.

Let’s start by looking at the seating capabilities of the Vista V2 and the Cruz V2. Both strollers feature reversible primary seats, which can be used for your little one from 3 month of age up to 50 lbs. If you’re looking for newborn readiness, you’re in luck: both models are compatible with UPPAbaby’s Infant SnugSeat, which allows the primary seats of the stroller to form a flat, newborn-safe position for those first three months of life. Do you prefer a bassinet? The UPPAbaby Bassinet is included at the point of purchase with a Vista V2, but you can easily opt to purchase one separately to pair with your Cruz as compatibility is consistent across the board.

Beyond their similar seating plans, the Vista V2 and the Cruz V2 also share the following design elements:

  • Easy folding: Both models are well known for their standing fold, allowing you to safely set aside your stroller if you’re meeting friends for lunch or planning to store your stroller in the entryway of your home.
  • Beautiful design: It doesn’t hurt that UPPAbaby prioritizes the importance of aesthetics when it comes to their products. Both the Vista V2 and Cruz V2 feature leather handles and belly bars which beautifully contrast with the coordinating primary colors of the stroller and its zipper-extendable canopy.
  • Ample storage space: When it comes to basket storage, UPPAbaby can’t be beat! Both strollers feature easily-accessible and large baskets.
  • Seat sizing & safety: Rounding out the 2020 updates, we are excited to share that on both the Vista V2 and Cruz V2 UPPAbaby has extended the sizing on their reversible toddler seat, creating a high back, longer leg rest, and deeper footrest for parents who have off-the-height-chart kiddos. You can also look forward to a five-point no re-thread harness on both strollers, allowing you to easily modify strap placement as your little one grows!

UPPABABY VISTA V2 2020 VS. UPPABABY CRUZ V2 2020: IS THE VISTA V2 FOR YOU?

Not sure whether the Vista or Cruz is a better fit for your family? Let’s take a closer look at how the two models vary. The primary distinction between a Vista V2 and Cruz V2 is the Vista’s ability to grow with your family.  Many of our expecting parents who hope to have more children down the line will opt for a Vista V2, enabling them to simply add UPPAbaby’s RumbleSeat V2 and a set of UPPAbaby Upper Adapters  to make their Vista V2 double-capable, as opposed to starting the whole stroller shopping process from scratch. With its double capability, though, comes with some added weight: a Vista features larger rear wheels than a Cruz as well as with a longer frame, making it the heaviest option in UPPAbaby’s line-up at 27 lbs.

UPPABABY VISTA V2 2020 VS. UPPABABY CRUZ V2 2020: IS THE CRUZ V2 FOR YOU?

Planning to shop for your current needs and not your future needs? UPPAbaby has made some really incredible advancements with the Cruz for 2020, which had previously been considered the scaled down version of the Vista. Where we would otherwise have given the clear edge to the Vista, UPPAbaby has targeted and improved areas where the Cruz previously lacked. With the Cruz V2, UPPAbaby has increased the wheel size on both the front and back of the stroller, as well as introduced dual-action suspension paired with rear suspension to really up the ante when it comes to the Cruz’s quality of ride.

These new additions have moved the Cruz V2 into the midweight range of strolling, as it is slated to increase in overall weight from 21 lbs to about 25.5 lbs. And while the added weight may seem like a negative, UPPAbaby has made sure to keep the Cruz as its most compact full-size option, scaling down it’s folded size to just 16.5”L x 22.5” W x 32.5” H 3.5”.
