Day 9 – The Learning Tower

Learning TowerWhen you’re 3 feet tall, the world can seem like a pretty big place. The Learning Tower brings kids into the action, so they can reach the countertops and interact with adults at eye-level. Ideal for fostering a love of cooking from a very early age, The Learning Tower is typically billed as a sturdy kitchen step-stool. But that understates the versatility of this particular piece of furniture.

Yes, it is a step-stool, and a very good one. The Learning Tower is constructed of solid birch, and has a very wide base, so toddlers can climb on and off independently without tipping it over. The standing platform is adjustable, so it can be used with children as young as 18 months and as old as 6 years old (though it has been tested to 500 pounds!). But outside the kitchen, The Learning Tower can become a playhouse (with the optional accessory kit, or with some creative draping of sheets), or an easel (again, with an optional accessory). It can be a puppet theater, or just a great gross motor development tool.

Our Brookline store is in a fairly urban area where small apartments are the standard. I’ve always been a little surprised by how many of our customers there, who don’t generally have much room to spare in their kitchens, still make space for The Learning Tower, and swear they couldn’t live without it.

The Learning Tower is our Day 9 prize for the 31 Days of Giveaways celebration. Enter now.
