A new breed of stroller

Strollers have been the big story at the ABC Show, where we’ve seen an amazing array of new and interesting concepts, many of them populating a new category of strollers, which I’ll call the Hybrid (you heard it here first, folks). These hybrid strollers are a cross between an all-terrain stroller and a city stroller. Riding unabashedly on the coattails ... Read More »

A Techno for all seasons

Maclaren is introducing the new Techno XLR model stroller. This is the ultimate Techno – all the best features of the Maclaren flagship model, AND it takes many infant car seat models, too. It’s crazy late and I’m falling asleep as I type. Plus, the pictures I took of the XLR didn’t come out too well. I will give more ... Read More »

Fleurville shows off a high chair

And in the next chapter of diaper bag companies thinking outside the box, check out the new Calla Chair from Fleurville. Designed by Yves Behar, the Calla Chair was formally launched at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in June, but it’s making a rare public appearance here in Vegas. The prototype looks very interesting. It’s certainly a new perspective on ... Read More »

Skip Hop introduces plastic essentials

Skip Hop is releasing a new line of baby-oriented housewares, including a bottle drying rack (Splash), a diaper caddy (Toolbox) and a multi-tiered, carousel-type shelf for baby food jars (Chow, pictured). These sculptural pieces are like everything else from Skip Hop – creative, modern and incredibly useful. They come in several different colors and will be available later this month. Read More »

Orbit update

I had a chance to stop by the Orbit booth and check out the newest product developments from their team. As usual, I was impressed. They showed a fantastic stroller seat that fits onto the Orbit frame. It’s a roomy, fully-featured seat with a generous hood and a very plush, comfortable seat. The stroller has a reversible seat pad; one ... Read More »

Yummy Danish!

Two popular and sought-after Dutch stroller brands will both be making their American debut in the coming months. The Mutsy is a line of high-end strollers with several parent-friendly features. The 4Rider looks a bit like the bugaboo. It includes a stroller seat and a bassinet, and the handling is quite nice. There are two versions, one more lightweight with ... Read More »

Robeez acquired by Stride Rite

In a move that makes perfect sense, Stride Rite last week acquired Robeez Footwear for a purchase price of $27.5 million dollars in cash. Since 1996, Robeez has seen steady and strong growth, and has come to essentially dominate the category of prewalker footwear for infants and toddlers. Sandra Wilson, founder of Robeez, will stay with the company as a ... Read More »

Rub a dub dub – design for the tub

Thanks to Boon, the creative engine behind the Frog Pod and the Potty Bench, your nightly bath time experience can be further enhanced with a whimsical collection of bathtub toys. The set includes 15 colorful, amorphous foam appliqués that stick to the wall and tub when they’re wet, two mini-scrubbies, and three balls. It’s unusual to find bath toys that ... Read More »

Fender Senders

The Phil and Ted’s e3 has been explosively popular over the past few months. Parents love how the nimble single stroller can be reconfigured to carry two children. But in the two-toddler position, one child sits close to the ground and, therefore, close to the wheels. As expected, many curious hands got very grimy. There was a small outcry, but ... Read More »
