ABC Show – Day 1

I have a lot to cover, and I’m not sure how long I can keep my eyes open and be coherent. I will do my best. The show is, as expected, enormous and utterly overwhelming. But with quantity, fortunately, comes quality. I got through roughly 1/3 of the show today, and had plenty to get excited about. Major themes so ... Read More »

Good Mourning

My husband lost his grandfather this week, the last of the eight grandparents we had between us. He was 88 years old. He survived Auschwitz alongside his brother, then emigrated to the USA where he married, became a father, a grandfather and eventually a great grandfather. He was a warm, bright and funny man who enjoyed lively conversations on a ... Read More »

Mattel recall expanded, the drama builds

Mattel has recalled another 9 million toys, and the owner of the factory in China responsible for the lead paint recall has committed suicide. One die-cast licensed Cars toy was found to have dangerous levels of lead paint, but the majority of the toys in this recall are actually magnetic toys. The tiny magnets may inadvertently release from the toys, ... Read More »

Como is a-coming

I just got an e-mail that the Midnight Desert and Beige Como seats from Recaro should be shipping out to us next week. Cobalt and Blush are still in transit and are scheduled to ship in the beginning of September. No update on the Signo for now. As soon as I hear, I’ll pass it along. I know a lot ... Read More »

Yesterday, we were given the prestigious Best of Boston award from Boston Magazine for Best Baby Gear Store. And – they ... Read More »

No time to cook?

Mark Bittman is one of my favorite cookbook authors. His “How to Cook Everything” is my go-to kitchen bible, and I highly recommend it, especially for beginners. Bittman hangs his hat on simplicity, which is particularly helpful for busy parents who are trying to put a nice dinner on the table a few times a week. Last week, The New ... Read More »

Is it quiet around here or is it just me?

Oh wait. I’m the one who’s supposed to be making the noise. So to speak. I’m so sorry my posts have been so few and far between. It’s an unfortunate combination of factors that are leaving me with very little time to blog. My kids are in camp, which starts earlier in the morning than nursery school did. And since ... Britax Regent Product “Update”

I just received an announcement from Britax that they will be offering a free product update kit for all Regent car seats manufactured between November 10, 2005 and June 18, 2007. This kit will “enhance the performance” of the Regent seat. Clearly this is not a recall, but Britax is strongly encouraging consumers to utilize this kit, and is also ... Read More »

Fit for a queen

Check out this cute story – the family lives right near my parents. Basically, this family of Belgian descent had their seventh consecutive daughter last month, qualifying their new baby for an obscure 140-year-old Belgian tradition that had her become the goddaughter of the queen. The royal family will pay for the child’s education and she will have twice yearly ... Read More »
