Britax Decathlon Recalled

My hair is going gray this week, I swear it. A customer gave us a heads-up today that Britax has issued a voluntary recall of the Decathlon. I’m wondering why, in the flurry of e-mails that I’ve received from Britax over the past few days regarding other matters, this wasn’t even mentioned, but perhaps I’m just a bit oversensitive right ... Fisher Price Recall

I know, I know. I’m late on this one. I nearly had a panic attack at the gym last night when I saw CNN reporting on nearly a million recalled toys. I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard it was Fisher Price, which we don’t sell in the store. But then I realized that my kids have Fisher ... Read More »

Thomas Wooden Railway Recall

Oh my goodness. I’ve seen a few recalls since we started Magic Beans, but this one isn’t doing good things for my blood pressure. Apparently, one of the manufacturers in China who make the Thomas Wooden Railway products for RC2 has been using lead-based paint on the products. This is a voluntary recall and it affects 1.5 million units worldwide. ... Read More »

Evenflo recalls 450,000 infant seats

This news broke at the end of last week, and actually I wasn’t even going to write about it. I usually just cover recalls that effect merchandise we’ve sold in the store. But in this case, because the recall has such a broad impact, I’m going to make an exception, even though we have never carried this (or any) Evenflo ... Read More »

e3 Recall

The CPSC has today announced a recall of the Phil and Ted’s e3 Buggy. This is a voluntary recall due to an “abrasion hazard” to children when they are seated in the rear position of the toddler seat. A while back, I reported that Regal Lager, the US distributor for Phil and Ted’s was sending out free wheel guards to ... Read More »

BabySwede just announced a recall of the Baby Bjorn Feeding Spoon. Evidently, after extended use, the soft tip of the spoon can separate from the handle, creating a choking hazard. While there have been no reports of this defect in the United States, there have been 11 known instances of the problem worldwide. No injuries have been reported. Anyone who ... Read More »

Britax Boulevard Recall

Britax has just announced a voluntary recall of the Boulevard car seat. Apparently, they’ve realized that the top tether hook can release or break when the seat is used in the forward-facing position with a child over 50 lbs. For the time being, Britax is asking consumers to stop using the top tether once the child’s weight reaches 50 lbs. ... Read More »

Polly Pocket Recall

Mattel recently announced a recall of several Polly Pocket sets that used tiny embedded magnets to attach the clothing and accessories to the dolls. Apparently, these magnets can fall out and be swallowed or even aspirated. As with the last major issue involving magnets, the true risk isn’t with swallowing one magnet. The real trouble starts if a child swallows ... Read More »

Safety concerns and lawsuits with Magnetix construction toy

While this is not an official recall, it’s a pretty scary story. Magnetix (which we have never carried in our store) is being blamed for the death of a 22-month old boy and the serious illnesses of two other young boys, all of whom live in Washington state. Apparently, the small magnets became dislodged from the plastic toy and each ... Read More »

We are working to contact our customers who have purchased this product, but if you have one, please take it away from your child immediately. You can call International Playthings ... Read More »
