Object of desire

This new stroller, the Joolz, caught a lot of people’s attention. It’s an interesting cross between the bugaboo and the Stokke Xplory. The visual design elements are similar to the bugaboo, but it has a higher seat and an adjustable footrest, like the Xplory. It’s very cool looking and handles nicely. The prototypes were very heavy, which the company recognizes ... Read More »

A Mountain Buggy by any other name…

One Tree Hill is the European distributor for Mountain Buggy, and their booth was hopping. And no wonder. They had a fantastic display of the 2007 designer color lineup that would stop anyone dead in their tracks. Their booth was really nice. I took a lot of pictures, and I’m feeling really good about the colors for 2007. Interestingly, the ... Read More »

In a Scottish sort of mood

Maclaren has rebranded with a tip of the (fur) hat to their Scottish roots. The new Maclaren logo is a plaid-inspired “M”, though we haven’t seen any plaid fabrics in the US lineup for 2007. And just to make sure everyone got the point, there was an impressive bagpiper who made frequent appearances at the Maclaren booth. I got a ... Read More »

Just add spaghetti sauce.

Inglesina was showing a beautiful new white high chair and baby seat in Cologne. Reminiscent of Ligne-Roset, these are very sleek, very modern and potentially very impractical. But will anyone care? Functionally, both pieces are fine. The high chair is well constructed and well designed, while the baby seat is a novelty with an adjustable recline and a rocking base. ... Read More »

Heavy Duty

Apparently, Cybex is getting into the baby market. Last year, the fitness company introduced a revolutionary new high-back booster seat at this show and won the coveted innovation award. This year, they’ve brought out a fascinating new convertible car seat, and won it again. When we visited, we met JB, the VP of Sales for this division of Cybex, and ... Read More »

Is that a term of endearment?

We just ordered the Mutsy strollers in Las Vegas, so we were curious to see what they were unveiling here. They showed off a new, brighter color palette for the Spider, as well as a completely new chassis concept which is outstanding. The handlebar is attached to the seat frame, which, like the bugaboo, can convert from a bassinet to ... Read More »

Sheri and Isaac go to Red Castle

Although we have not yet decided to carry the Red Castle strollers that will be available in the US, we were curious to check out their booth. Inside, we found some gorgeous stroller and car seat covers that will be very nice in the winter. We also met the Red Castle baby carrier, which is already selling in the US. ... Read More »

Emmawho?

At the Emmaljunga booth, we discovered that even this venerable pram manufacturer has jumped onto the hybrid bandwagon, with a chassis that features the asymmetrical wheel configuration. It has quite a nice feel, actually. I’ve never seen a new Emmaljunga, since they are no longer available in the US, but I’ve heard that they’re very smooth and easy to push. ... Read More »

And speaking of safety…

At many booths, we’ve approached the staff to ask about product availability in the US, and we keep hearing the same story: “Our product can’t meet the safety standards there.” Evidently it’s a miracle that all these European children survive infancy. And based on the number of bikers whizzing around this city without helmets, it’s also a miracle they survive ... Read More »

Hi Ho Quinny

Once we had established our legitimacy, we had full access to this booth. I am not familiar enough with the Quinny line to really know the difference between old and new, but it seems like the color palette has had an update. Interestingly, the new Quinny colors are very similar to the 2006 Maclaren lineup, with red, lime, pink, black, ... Read More »
