About the Uncle Goose Classic Wooden Alphabet Blocks

Modeled after block design from the turn-of-the-century, the Classic Wooden Alphabet Blocks are as good-looking as they are educational. This set of 28 blocks is crafted to be easy to hold, fun to stack, and always educational. Each block features a charming animal picture, a number or math symbol, and four letters (some embossed).

As the phrase famously goes, "They don't make 'em like they used to." Back in the days when Grandpa walked 5 miles uphill to school (both ways), craftsmanship and quality were the standard. We are collectively nostalgic about those "good ol' days," but quality toys are too precious to be simply a pastime. With products like Uncle Goose Blocks by Lindenwood Inc., our kids can have high-quality blocks that are modernized with safe inks, multi-cultural themes, and eco-friendly considerations.

Since 1983, Uncle Goose Blocks have been made right here in the USA. We were excited to learn that they are carved from sustainable Michigan basswood in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Under the direction of founder William Bultman, Uncle Goose Toys revived the tradition of classic embossed blocks – and we couldn't love them more.

The blocks are designed with play value, educational value, and safety in mind:

Play Value

From the embossed sides to the smooth wood, kids will love playing with the Uncle Goose Blocks. You'll quickly notice how excited your child will be to identify the letters, images, and numbers featured on the blocks, especially when it is part of a game. There are all these aspects to enjoy – before you child even begins stacking them!

Educational Value

Blocks are championed for their educational value and it's no wonder why. These open-ended, simple shapes can be played with in countless ways and inspire lots of creativity and logical reasoning. The tactile nature of blocks is also ideal for developing gross and fine motor skills. Uncle Goose Blocks feature numerals, the numeral names, uppercase letters, and cute graphics to reinforce the vocabulary. These blocks are also available in many languages and cultural themes, a feature that makes this collection even more special.

The solid basswood shapes feature beveled edges, eliminating sharp and potentially hazardous edges. It also makes the blocks easier and more comfortable to hold. The wood is colored with non-toxic and child-safe inks. The blocks are entirely lead-free and exceed the safety standards set forth by both American and European agencies.
