About the UppaBaby Minu Stroller 2018/2019

2018 is the year of the compact stroller. We love that families with any size trunk, home, or stairway are able to find the stroller that’s exactly perfect for their lifestyle! UPPAbaby is catering to the quick and compact fold craze with their nimble Minu Stroller 2018! The youngest of the UPPAbaby stroller family, the Minu continues their tradition of beautiful and functional design.

You guessed it—the Minu has a quick and compact one-handed (or one-step) fold. Seamlessly bring it on the subway with the convenient carry strap. At 14.5 pounds, you won’t need to hit the gym to be able to cart the Minu around. Just like the Vista and Cruz, the Minu can stand alone when folded!

All Minu fashions will feature a 100% premium leather handlebar! The leather is full-grain cow hide with no chemicals used in the tanning process, and it’s REACH certified, meeting stringent EU requirements for chemical testing. As with all high-quality leather, it will develop a softer feel and a darker patina with everyday use.

The Minu can be used from birth in a number of ways. Car seat adapters (sold separately) are available to click in your UPPAbaby Mesa, Nuna Pipa, and Maxi Cosi infant car seats as well as the Cybex Aton Q & Aton 2 infant car seats. Or you can separately purchase the Minu’s From Birth Kit! The kit includes a mattress that creates a bassinet-type environment, but it has lower sides than a traditional full-size bassinet. You’ll be able to use your Minu from the get-go and allow your newborn to lay perfectly flat. The stroller can fold with the From Birth Kit attached as well.

Other UPPAbaby Minu 2018 features include:

  • Large easy-access basket holds up to 20lbs
  • All-wheel suspension
  • Large extendable sun canopy
  • Storage bag included

When folded, the UPPAbaby Minu measures 20.5”W x 23”H x 11.5”L

The UPPAbaby Minu Stroller 2018 can be used from 6 months to 50lbs

perfect car/travel stroller!

1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
Pros:

one hand fold!!!

Cons:

folds larger than most compact strollers

A bit bigger than most of the compact strollers BUT still amazing. I sold my gluxe a few years ago to possibly prepare for a double stroller but our needs have since changed. Happy to have discovered this one -- I went back and forth between this and another travel stroller. Truth is, I have no need (I think....) to have a stroller fit in the overhead, but I love that UPPAbaby has a travel bag (soon to be released as of this writing...) that provides extra warranty for the stroller.

Parents of newborns: beware (for now)

5 out of 5 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Most things

Cons:

Can't use it with a newborn

We have a Minu stored in our apartment, it looks fantastic but we can't use it because neither the car seat adapter nor newborn kit are available. When we ordered both were supposed to be available in late May... then early June, then late June, and now early July.

At this rate our newborn will have outgrown the newborn stuff by the time we get it, and in the mean time we've had to buy another stroller because it's simply impossible to use the Minu with a newborn.

I'm sure the stroller will be fantastic, and once the newborn parts are available they'll be fantastic too. But don't make the mistake we did in assuming the add-ons will be available when UPPAbaby say they will be.

Gorgeous colors, truly luxurious

2 out of 2 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Beautiful colors, smooth ride, lightweight, folds into small square with carry strap, lots of storage space, easy to use brake, folds SUPER easy with one hand, comfy handbar, sits almost all the way up, lays down almost flat

Cons:

tab to open before opeing stroller is a bit tricky sometimes, can't open with one hand completely, foot rest doesn't move up and down,

I'm LOVING this thing! First Uppa I've owned and it's love for sure. SMOOTH ride, super cute color and LO is so happy to sit up and be able to see. VERY lightweight. Only complaint is that I wish it came with an uppa cup holder or pouch for the price. LOVE the small fold and the carry strap.

Great lightweight/travel stroller

4 out of 4 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Amazing fold, smooth, awesome brakes

I just got the minu and love it. For reference, I got it as an upgrade from my current car/travel stroller, which is a Maclaren quest. We are going on a big trip this summer and I was looking for a stroller that had more of a full size feel to it, but could easily fold down for public transportation. This definitely fit the bill.

Right off the bat I noticed it pushes much smoother and easier than my quest. In fact, I easily pushed it one handed for an entire walk, with my coffee in the other hand. The basket is a bit of a unique design, more of a tray than a basket. It’s much larger than the basket on the quest. But since it doesn’t have a front and a back to hold things in, it’s safer to shove bags down there than individual things. But, it was large enough to handle my large purse and the small toddler size backpack I use for my son’s diapers and wipes. The sun shade on this is amazing compared to the quest. Literally twice the size, which I super appreciate. The brakes work really good and I love that I don’t have to push up on something to get the brake off, because that’s never fun in sandals. Lastly, the standing fold just rocks.

We got the stroller in the jordan/charcoal melange. It is much prettier in person than the pictures show. The grey is more of a heather grey, so has a bit of a texture to it, if that makes sense. I really like it.

The Minu does not sacrifice quality for portability!

10 out of 10 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Lightweight, quick one handed fold, folds small, smooth push, great sun canopy, smaller width

Cons:

Less substantial, smaller storage, bumps/uneven surfaces not its strength, no bumper bar, no rear facing seat option

Its a good alternative to the Vista (and presumably the Cruz). The Vista/Cruz seem to have more features overall compared to the Minu. For a younger infant, I personally like being able to have the toddler seat rear facing so I can see them. But, if your main goal is portability above all else, the Minu is a really great option to consider.

The Minu is much easier than the Vista when it comes to loading and unloading to go shopping, run errands, etc. I don't have to wrestle with it, flip the seat forward facing, and hike it up into the trunk of our midsize SUV like I do with the Vista. It takes up little space in our trunk. I don't worry about taking it into a restaurant because it can be folded up and tucked away. I don't have to worry about its tires not fitting through narrow doorways or down store isles- the Vista can struggle in those areas! The one handed fold is exactly as easy as I want my stroller to be in a moment when I'm in a hurry. It really is as quick and easy as it looks.

I've taken it on multiple walks that I would normally use our Vista for. It immediately has that same luxurious smooth push/feel as the Vista, I would say on smooth surfaces its even a little easier to push because of its lower weight. However, when it comes to sidewalks, I could hear the wheels hitting each bump in a way I did not experience with the Vista. That being said, the suspension does a good job of absorbing those bumps. Overall, I was surprised at how disproportionately little I felt the bumps compared to the sound they made. And don't get me wrong, the stroller wasn't obnoxiously loud either, it was just something I noticed right away.

Because its frame is so lightweight, when our dog jumps or pulls on the leash in my hand, it can jerk the stroller a little bit. Its balanced enough that while its lightweight, I'm not afraid it will immediately tip or anything. Its just not as substantial as the Vista, again, because of the portability goal.

I worried the sun visor would not block the sun if the seat is reclined. But so far so good! it creates a really cozy space in the shade just like we are accustomed to with the Vista!

I will say that the storage, while its there and likely larger than most umbrella stroller storage, it is small compared to the Vista. We have a backpack diaper bag that we keep filled and it won't fit in the bottom. That smaller storage compartment is probably my biggest disappointment, even though I love the stroller overall.

There could be an argument made for making this a primary stroller. Price, portability, having only one baby, buying the infant kit and carseat kit... I think it would be doable! In our case, its a very, very, good second/travel stroller to keep in the car for errands. I don't feel like I am trading quality for portability with the Minu. We now use Vista as our workhorse for outdoor activities and/or in times when we need the storage.
