Belle of the Balls
OK, so check this out. This is a ball-shaped ice cream maker, the Ice Cream Ball. You fill one end with half & half, vanilla and sugar, then you fill the other end with ice and rock salt. Shake it, roll it, and pass it ’round for 10 minutes, stir it, then give it another 10 minutes of activity and voila, you’ve got a pint of delicious soft-serve ice cream. It’s crazy, but it really works – I tasted the results at Toy Fair.
What a great warm-weather activity for kids of all ages, and imagine a couple of these at a birthday party. It’s just such a neat idea, so simple but so much fun (for parents, too – yum). The company’s website has a comprehensive list of easy recipes. Please note that they caution against kicking or throwing the Ice Cream Ball, so keep it low-impact for best results.
