Car seat comparison: Britax Clicktight vs. Clek Convertible Car Seats (Ratings/Reviews/Prices)
When shopping for a convertible car seat you have a ton of great options. Britax and Clek are two of our very favorite brands, and their convertible seats are fantastic and really have a lot to offer.
With the Britax Clicktight convertible car seats, we carry three options, all very nice and very safe. We have their base model, the Britax Marathon Clicktight Convertible Car Seat, plus the Britax Boulevard Clicktight Convertible Car Seat, and of course the Britax Advocate Clicktight Convertible Car Seat. Each of these car seats are equipped with seven recline positions, a five point harness, a deep protective shell, integrated steel bars, and a base and harness designed to reduce impact in case of a collision (called “Safecell Impact Protection”). All three of these have a rear-facing limit of 40 pounds and 49 inches, and a forward facing limit of 65 pounds and 49 inches.
Virtually the only difference between the three Clicktight convertible car seats is width. The Boulevard has additional side impact protection, and the Advocate has advanced side impact protection (which makes it a bit wider). You can read more about the subtle differences between the Britax Clicktight seats here.
However, what makes all three of these seats special and sets them apart from the rest of the car seat market is that they are amazingly easy to install. You simply turn and lift the Clicktight lever, feed the seat belt through, close the window in the seat, and you’ve properly installed the car seat, nice and tight! It’s an amazing and innovative solution to a nagging problem – it’s easy to do, and easy to do correctly, enhancing your child’s safety and your peace of mind.
Clek seats stand out from the pack with some really unique style and very innovative safety and ease-of-use features. The Clek Foonf Convertible Car Seat and the Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat are both heavy-duty, high-tech seats: the Foonf is kind of the big brother of the Fllo, since it’s 3 inches taller. Both are designed to accommodate extended rear-facing, which is highly recommended by safety experts: they can fit a rear-facing child up to 50 pounds and 43 inches (and will continue to protect your child forward-facing up to 65 pounds and 49 inches).
Both the Foonf and Fllo come equipped with state-of-the-art safety features, including advanced side impact protection, a steel anti rebound bar, energy absorbing foam, an integrated steel frame, and aluminum honeycomb energy absorbing crumple zone technology that also reduces the force in case of collision exponentially. They also have the expected five-point harness and an adjustable headrest.
Another awesome feature is the Crypton Super Fabric that they use on the seats – it’s stain, water, and bacteria resistant. And you can also fit three Foonfs or Fllos across your backseat, which is a boon for bigger families! If you ask me, Clek has a lot to offer.
Regardless of which brand you decide to go with, remember that all of these seats are safety-tested and certified safe to protect your child. Your choice is going to depend on what’s convenient for you. Hopefully this blog has given you a head-start on your decision, but if you have more questions, ask us!
