Drool Baby Expo Wrap-Up: New Product Showcase

Were you one of the OVER ONE THOUSAND attendees who we met at the Drool Baby Expo last week? And are you or your adorable baby in our wrap-up video? This year, our extraordinary baby expo was bigger and better than ever, and as usual, some cool new products made their debut. Here are a few of the highlights.

Bumbleride Indie 4 Stroller

We predicted that the brand-new Indie 4 would be a hit, and so I wasn’t surprised that I couldn’t get anywhere near any Bumbleride reps to talk about their strollers at Drool! But the combination of hip style and four-on-the-floor stability definitely made the Indie 4 a stroller that everyone wanted to see.

As Magic Beans co-owner Eli Gurock wrote for Project Nursery, “With the Bumbleride Indie 4, parents will be getting cool Bumbleride styling and four all-terrain wheels on a comparatively compact stroller. It merges a lot of qualities that customers are looking for in one stylish package.”

Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4/35

A smaller baby demands a different kind of car seat, which can adjust to a preemie’s body for a secure fit. The new Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4/35 Infant Car Seat adapts to fit the tiniest passengers with two included inserts which ensure that your baby’s head is positioned properly within the protective side wings of the seat. Plus, the no-rethread harness height adjuster is super-cool, and the base installation couldn’t be easier, using the “Right Tight” system to tighten the LATCH belts with no tugging on your part. It also doesn’t hurt that the car seat has a sleek new design, or that it’s super light to carry!

NüRoo Pocket Baby Carrier

This was another booth I couldn’t get anywhere near: NüRoo reps were far too busy demonstrating just how easy it is to pop babies into the Pocket Baby Carrier, which you wear like a shirt! It’s designed to facilitate skin-to-skin time with new babies, and our head buyer, Jill Hegstad, can verify that it works like a dream, from using it with her daughter: “It is very soothing for the baby, and for the parent as well. I found this shirt very easy to use and a good alternative to just having a blanket over Reese and I during skin-to-skin time.  When I needed to get up, I could do just that without having to rearrange her.” I watched a few demos, and it looks really easy to put on – plus, when it’s on, it just looks like a cute blouse with an even cuter baby peeking out of the top!

Kiinde Foodii system

The creators of the fantastically fast Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer have upped their game with a new addition to their feeding system: the Foodii Squeeze Snack Filling and Feeding System lets you transform their breast milk Twist Pouches into snack pouches! So now, the Kiinde Twist Universal Direct-Pump Breast Milk Collection, Storage, and Feeding system goes to the next stage – you can buy virtually everything you need to feed a newborn and transition to solids in a single package.

Mimo Baby Monitor

We love how Mimo starts from the outset with a reassuring message: the first words on their webpage are, “You are a GREAT parent. Let the Mimo baby monitor help you sleep sounder.” And that’s what Mimo is all about: reassurance. That, and impressive technology: this nifty little gadget is a wearable monitor attached to a cozy little organic cotton onesie, and it sends key data on your child’s sleep and respiration to your smartphone. It updates the age-old ritual of checking on the baby for the internet era, so you can feel a little better and sleep a little better.

Of course, being at Drool meant that you could either immediately purchase or place an order for any of these items and many, many more, so we polled some of our attendees on Facebook to tell us about what they loved, and what they bought. Big hits included ZoLi Bot sippy cups and the Mimo monitor.

Our new Mommy Support Lounge also was a resounding success: one reader told us that she loved meeting our array of newborn photographers, doulas, acupuncturists, and other local services.
