Stocking Stuffers: Small but Special
There’s nothing like seeing a huge present with your name on it underneath the Christmas tree. Big boxes, wrapped in festive paper, topped with a red bows, can be the highlight of Christmas morning. But, who says bigger is better? Some of the best presents you’ll ever receive, like engagement rings and plane tickets, come in small boxes. Or stockings.
Stockings are full of candy we devour, fruit we…set aside for later, and – best of all – unexpected little gifts. Kids have a reputation for favoring the big boxes, but an extra-special stocking will always make a child’s eyes light up with delight.
Kids can never get enough of Silly Bands, lip gloss, bouncy balls, erasers, wind-up toys, finger puppets and other novelties. Small brain teasers and puzzles are always a hit, too. But to stuff an extra-special stocking, take your child’s personality and favorites into account – this way you can do no wrong.
What’s her favorite color? Things like Piggy Paint, Automoblox cars, Uglydoll keychains and Hexbugs come in a array of colors. If he has a favorite animal, chances are Schleich Toys has a small, plastic version.
Stockings are a great venue for smaller games. Card games, travel versions of popular favorites, or any game that comes in a small package are all good choices. We especially love Bananagrams and Spot It! around here.
What’s going into your kids’ stockings this year?
